Michelle Denny Recruitment is looking for a Non-Marine Technician to work for a specialist Lloyd’s insurance broker from their offices based in the insurance central hub of London.
Working to put together slips for their Casualty/Liability and Financial Lines business, the overall purpose of the role is the administration of clients’ insurance requirements including general enquiries, renewals, mid-term adjustments, accounting procedures and the preparation of all documentation, providing technical and administrative support to the broking team.
Technical knowledge & understanding of:
The insurance market, the basic insurance principles and the ability to apply them.
Standard policy terms and acceptable market variations i.e. benefits, exclusions and warranties.
The nature and sources of law, the law of contract, the insurance contract, and their application in the UK or overseas.
Current market requirements for the preparation of placing documents and an awareness of future developments.
Able to demonstrate a good understanding of the current regulatory issues within the industry and the impact these have on the business.
Knowledge and understanding of specific FCA requirements such as ICOB, money laundering, treating customers fairly, complaints handling, FOS and market agreements.
Strong interpersonal skills - able to build successful, mutually beneficial business relationships.
Communication skills – able to communicate with people with various levels of knowledge face to face, over the telephone and in writing.
Planning and organising – able to plan and organise effectively to meet timescales.
Problem solving – able to identify a potential problem and deliver a timely and coherent solution.
IT Knowledge – able to use standard Microsoft packages and the company’s specific software.
File Management – understands the importance of maintaining accurate records and the regulatory implications.
Self-Development – able to recognise personal development needs and take personal responsibility for continuous learning.
Main Duties and Responsibilities:
Deal with incoming enquiries from clients, insurers and other third parties in a professional and timely manner.
Prepare slips and endorsements that meet current market requirements on the Xchanging Brokasure Enterprise system.
Monitor the timeliness of the placement process to ensure Contract Certainty is achieved and FCA deadlines are adhered to.
Liaise with insurers and other third parties regarding the administration of clients’ insurance needs.
