JOB DESCRIPTION

Working to put together slips for their Casualty/Liability and Financial Lines business, the overall purpose of the role is the administration of clients’ insurance requirements including general enquiries, renewals, mid-term adjustments, accounting procedures and the preparation of all documentation, providing technical and administrative support to the broking team.

REQUIREMENTS

Technical knowledge & understanding of:

  • The insurance market, the basic insurance principles and the ability to apply them.

  • Standard policy terms and acceptable market variations i.e. benefits, exclusions and warranties.

  • The nature and sources of law, the law of contract, the insurance contract, and their application in the UK or overseas.

  • Current market requirements for the preparation of placing documents and an awareness of future developments.


Business knowledge:

  • Able to demonstrate a good understanding of the current regulatory issues within the industry and the impact these have on the business.

  • Knowledge and understanding of specific FCA requirements such as ICOB, money laundering, treating customers fairly, complaints handling, FOS and market agreements.


Personal skills:

  • Strong interpersonal skills - able to build successful, mutually beneficial business relationships.

  • Communication skills – able to communicate with people with various levels of knowledge face to face, over the telephone and in writing.

  • Planning and organising – able to plan and organise effectively to meet timescales.

  • Problem solving – able to identify a potential problem and deliver a timely and coherent solution.

  • IT Knowledge – able to use standard Microsoft packages and the company’s specific software.

  • File Management – understands the importance of maintaining accurate records and the regulatory implications.

  • Self-Development – able to recognise personal development needs and take personal responsibility for continuous learning.

DETAILS 

Main Duties and Responsibilities:

  • Deal with incoming enquiries from clients, insurers and other third parties in a professional and timely manner.

  • Prepare slips and endorsements that meet current market requirements on the Xchanging Brokasure Enterprise system.

  • Monitor the timeliness of the placement process to ensure Contract Certainty is achieved and FCA deadlines are adhered to.

  • Liaise with insurers and other third parties regarding the administration of clients’ insurance needs.
