JOB DETAILS
A rewarding administration role where your organisational skills can help make a real difference to young people's futures.
Michelle Denny Recruitment is working with Open Road Norfolk Trust - they are now looking for someone to help keep the day-to-day administration running smoothly at their Thetford centre.
Open Road supports young people who may not have found their place in mainstream education, helping them build confidence, develop practical skills and discover new opportunities through hands-on vocational learning.
With training centres in Thetford and King's Lynn, they provide programmes in motor vehicle maintenance, construction and personal development.
The role
Working closely with the Business Manager and training team, you'll play an important part in making sure students, parents, schools and colleagues have the information and support they need.
Your responsibilities will include:
Maintaining accurate student records, databases and enrolment information.
Monitoring attendance, following up absences and preparing reports.
Supporting learner reviews, progress monitoring and qualification administration.
Acting as a friendly first point of contact for students, parents, schools and visitors.
Managing telephone calls, emails and general enquiries.
Providing day-to-day administrative support to the Business Manager and training team.
Maintaining confidential records, including safeguarding and learner welfare information.
Helping with general office administration, ordering supplies and supporting events.
It's a varied position where being organised, approachable and willing to help will make a proper difference.
About you
You'll be someone who likes to keep things organised, enjoys working with people and gets satisfaction from making sure everything runs as it should.
You'll have some solid administration experience behind you, be comfortable using Microsoft Office and databases, and have a good eye for detail.
You'll also be:
A natural communicator who enjoys dealing with different people.
Someone who can juggle a few things at once without losing track of the details.
Friendly, approachable and happy to lend a hand wherever needed.
Reliable and discreet when handling sensitive or confidential information.
Comfortable using your own initiative, but equally happy being part of a team.
Most importantly, you'll bring a positive attitude, a practical approach and a genuine interest in being part of an organisation that's making a difference to young people's lives.
Experience in education, training or working with young people would be an advantage, but isn't essential. We're equally interested in hearing from experienced administrators from other sectors who would enjoy working in this environment.
What's on offer?
Salary: Circa £28,000 per annum, with potential for an increase following successful completion of the six-month probationary period.
Tern time only: may be considered, with pro rata salary & benefits.
Hours: Monday to Friday, 8.30am - 4.30pm.
Holiday: 25 days plus bank holidays, with annual leave taken during school holidays.
Pension: NEST workplace pension scheme.
Flexibility: There may be scope for a term-time-only contract, with salary & benefits adjusted on a pro rata basis.
Location: Shadwell Estate, Thetford.
A rewarding working environment: The opportunity to be part of a team helping young people develop skills, confidence and positive futures.
Occasional travel to Open Road's King's Lynn centre will be required, with mileage reimbursed (clean driving licence preferred).

If you're an experienced administrator looking for a role with variety, responsibility and a genuine sense of purpose, we'd love to hear from you. You don't need a background in education. If you're organised, approachable and enjoy supporting others, this could be a lovely next step.
