US Payroll & Benefits Administrator
Part time or full time considered
Remote / UK based
£30,000 - £46,000 depending on hours, experience and overall scope
Michelle Denny Recruitment is supporting a Cambridge business in the search for a specialist hire to take ownership of US payroll and benefits administration from within the UK. This is a niche appointment rather than a standard payroll vacancy. The core need is for somebody who understands the mechanics of US payroll and employee benefits, can work confidently and accurately in a specialist area, and can take real ownership of it from within the business.
Because of that, the role is being approached with some flexibility. The business is open to appointing either:
a part time specialist, focused specifically on US payroll and benefits administration at around 24 hours per week, or
a broader full time hire, if the right person can also take on bookkeeping and wider finance support
In other words, the shape of the role can flex around the background of the successful candidate, but the common thread is clear: US payroll and benefits experience is essential.
The role
Working closely with the wider business, you’ll take responsibility for the administration and coordination of US payroll and employee benefits for a US based workforce, helping ensure payroll inputs, employee changes and benefits administration are handled accurately and consistently from within the UK.
Depending on the final structure of the role, responsibilities are likely to include:
US payroll and benefits
Coordinating payroll inputs and employee changes for a US based workforce
Supporting the administration of US employee benefits, including 401(k), 401 Roth, medical insurance and HSA arrangements
Reviewing payroll information returned by the current US payroll provider, checking calculations and flagging discrepancies where needed
Managing employee changes and benefits updates through the relevant payroll and benefits systems / portals
Liaising with benefits providers and supporting the ongoing administration of benefit arrangements
Providing payroll related reporting and associated administration where required
Potential wider finance support
Supporting bookkeeping and day to day finance administration within the UK business
Assisting with month end tasks, reconciliations, journals and reporting support
Helping bring elements of outsourced finance administration back in house over time
About you
To be considered, you’ll need previous experience of US payroll and benefits administration. That is the non negotiable part of the brief.
You may already be working in payroll, benefits, HR / payroll administration or a broader payroll / finance role, but you’ll need to be comfortable with the detail of US payroll and employee benefits, rather than solely UK payroll.
Ideally, you’ll bring:
Previous experience of US payroll and benefits administration
Familiarity with areas such as 401(k), healthcare / medical benefits, HSA and employee payroll changes
Confidence working with payroll systems, benefits platforms and payroll related reporting
Strong attention to detail and a methodical approach
The ability to work independently and manage a specialist area of responsibility with confidence
Bookkeeping or finance administration experience would be useful for those interested in the broader full time version of the role
What’s on offer
A permanent opportunity that can be shaped as either:a part time specialist role at around 24 hours per week, or
a broader full time position incorporating finance support
Salary likely to sit between £30,000 and £46,000, depending on the final structure, hours and scope of the role
Remote / UK based position
The chance to take ownership of a genuinely specialist role within a growing business
If you have relevant US payroll and benefits experience but are unsure which version of the role may suit you best, speak with Michelle Denny and you can talk the options through.
