JOB DETAILS

Michelle Denny Recruitment is working with a long-standing local business just outside Diss to find a Business Support Manager. This is one of those roles that becomes far more important than it might first appear. The current postholder is retiring after a number of years in the role and has become a huge part of how the business runs day to day.

We’re now looking for someone who can come in, learn the ropes and become that same steady, reliable presence over time.

The Role

  • This is a busy, hands-on role in a reactive environment. No two days will look quite the same, and priorities can shift quickly.

  • You’ll be the person keeping an eye on everything – from incoming jobs and engineer schedules through to client communication and general day-to-day organisation.

  • This includes being the main point of contact for key clients, managing calls, emails and general enquiries, and coordinating engineers, particularly when urgent jobs come in.

  • You’ll also be responsible for keeping track of work orders and making sure nothing gets missed, preparing reports and supporting monthly payment valuations, and booking servicing and installations while communicating clearly with tenants.

  • Alongside this, you’ll manage annual leave, training and call rotas for engineers, support payroll with overtime information, and assist the Managing Director with supplier payments, ordering parts and quotations.

  • As with any role in a small business, there will also be day-to-day tasks that arise which simply need picking up and seeing through.

About You

  • This will suit someone who is organised and naturally keeps on top of things, is comfortable juggling a number of tasks at once, and communicates confidently and calmly.

  • You’ll need to be someone who doesn’t mind a bit of pace or last-minute change, and who likes being relied upon as part of a team.

  • You don’t need to come from this industry, but you do need to be practical, dependable and willing to get stuck in.

The Environment

  • This is a small, down-to-earth business with a loyal team.

  • It’s fully office-based and set in a rural location, so being happy with that day to day is important.

  • A consistent presence in the office is key to making the role work.
