Michelle Denny Recruitment is supporting Barric in the search for a Surface Mount Technician for its electronics manufacturing operation in Diss. With a loyal workforce and a strong track record of promoting from within, Barric offers an environment where people are encouraged to learn, grow and build long-term careers.

As production demand continues to grow, the company is looking for someone with a practical and technical mindset who is keen to develop new skills and become an important part of a highly successful manufacturing team.

This role has been created to support the continued growth of the Surface Mount department and provide additional capacity within a key area of the business. Working alongside experienced colleagues, you'll receive training and support whilst developing specialist skills that are highly valued within electronics manufacturing.

What you'll be doing

Working within the Surface Mount department, you'll play an important role in the manufacture of high-quality electronic assemblies, operating specialist equipment and supporting production activity across the team.

Responsibilities will include:

  • Reading and understanding instructions, following established procedures and production requirements

  • Setting up machines and equipment for production runs, including calibration and cleaning activities

  • Monitoring output to identify machine-related faults or production issues

  • Resolving issues that arise during the assembly process

  • Checking output to ensure products meet required quality standards

  • Following handling procedures to protect and preserve products

  • Carrying out relevant equipment maintenance activities

What we're looking for

You may already have experience within electronics manufacturing, production, assembly or a technical environment. Equally, you may be someone with strong practical skills and a genuine interest in learning how electronics are manufactured.

We're just as interested in attitude, aptitude and a willingness to learn than ticking every box. Experience of electronics assembly, PCB manufacture or Surface Mount processes would be advantageous, but full training will be provided for the right person.

Most importantly, we're looking for someone who is:

  • Reliable and committed

  • Technically minded

  • Keen to learn

  • Comfortable working as part of a team

  • Interested in developing specialist manufacturing skills

What you'll receive

  • £25,000 - £27,000, negotiable for the right person

  • 37.5 hour working week

  • Flexibility around start and finish times within the department's operating hours of 6:45am - 6:00pm

  • Life assurance

  • Private healthcare following a qualifying period

  • Structured training and support from experienced colleagues

  • Long-term career opportunity within a stable and successful business

If you're looking for an opportunity to learn specialist skills, develop your technical knowledge and build a long-term career within electronics manufacturing, we'd love to hear from you.
