Michelle Denny Recruitment is proud to be supporting Open Road Norfolk in the search for a Pastoral Lead - a genuinely rewarding opportunity to help young people aged 14 - 16 who have found mainstream education challenging reconnect with confidence, routine and progress.


Open Road offers a different route forward through practical learning, encouragement and consistency. This role will play a central part in helping students settle in, stay engaged and achieve more than they may believe possible.


THE ROLE


This is a people-focused position where relationships matter.


You’ll be a steady presence for students, helping them feel safe, valued and motivated to attend, participate and move forward positively.


Responsibilities will include:


  • Building trusted relationships with students

  • Supporting attendance, engagement and retention

  • Helping new starters settle confidently from day one

  • Encouraging positive behaviour and emotional resilience

  • Working closely with tutors and colleagues to create consistency

  • Liaising with parents, carers and external professionals where needed

  • Supporting progress reviews, wellbeing plans and student development

  • Helping young people believe in their own potential


ABOUT YOU

You may already work in:

  • Pastoral support

  • Education

  • Youth work

  • Behaviour support

  • SEND support

  • Mentoring

  • Social care or a similar people-centred environment


Most importantly, you’ll be someone who can connect with young people, remain calm under pressure and balance warmth with clear boundaries.
