£45,000 negotiable | Diss | Hybrid working with occasional travel

MDR is working exclusively with Styne Group to recruit an experienced Steelwork Estimator into a newly created role supporting continued growth and delivery of structural and architectural steelwork projects across the UK.

This position will suit someone who enjoys the technical challenge of estimating, wants real ownership in their work, and is looking for long-term development within a collaborative and well-regarded business.

The Role

As Steelwork Estimator, your core focus will be producing accurate, competitive estimates for a range of bespoke steelwork projects — including staircases, balustrades, portal frames and full structural frameworks.

Working closely with colleagues across the business, you’ll influence estimating strategy, identify commercial risk and opportunities, and support value-engineered solutions that strengthen tenders.

Your key responsibilities will include:

• Reviewing tender documents, drawings and specifications

• Preparing detailed cost estimates for materials, labour and subcontractors

• Carrying out accurate steel take-offs (including fasteners and associated materials)

• Liaising with architects, main contractors and suppliers

• Highlighting risks, constraints and opportunities in tender documents

This role is based from the Diss office, with hybrid working arrangements and occasional travel for site or client meetings.

About You

This role will suit an experienced steelwork estimator who enjoys detailed estimating and working collaboratively to produce high-quality bids.

You will likely have:

• Proven experience in structural or architectural steelwork estimating

• Strong understanding of steel fabrication and erection processes

• Confidence interpreting complex structural drawings

• Advanced Excel skills and a high attention to detail

• A commercial mindset and the desire to grow into a broader management role over time
