Supporting Local Lifesavers: A Visit from SARS

At MDR Consultancy, community is everything, and that includes doing what we can to support the people who go above and beyond to keep us all safe.

That’s why we’re proud to be sponsoring a SARS (Suffolk Accident Rescue Service) clinician, Oliver Marshall for the next two years, helping to keep an advanced volunteer paramedic on the road across Suffolk and Norfolk.

Last week, we had the absolute pleasure of welcoming our very own Oli, along with his colleague, SARS representative Alan to our Diss office for a visit that left a lasting impression on the whole team.

Behind the Scenes of Life-Saving Volunteering

If you're not familiar with SARS, they're a volunteer-led charity made up of highly trained clinicians, including critical care doctors, advanced paramedics and consultants who respond to serious medical emergencies across the region, in their own time and in their own vehicles.

They work in partnership with the East of England Ambulance Service to bring enhanced skills, critical equipment, and time-sensitive interventions to patients at the scene of an emergency. In many cases, they’re providing life-saving care well before the patient reaches hospital, sometimes, that care is the reason they make it there at all.

Oliver and Alan gave us a candid insight into what a day in their world looks like. They talked us through the reality of being on-call, juggling full-time jobs, and heading out to some of the most challenging and unpredictable situations you can imagine, all as volunteers. Their dedication is incredible, but it was their humility and calm professionalism that really stuck with us.

The Impact of Sponsorship

It’s easy to forget, with such a skilled and vital service, that SARS is entirely dependent on fundraising and donations. Every mile travelled, every life saved, every piece of equipment used, it’s all made possible by local support.

Our sponsorship means Oliver can be kitted out and active on-call for two full years. It’s a tangible, immediate way for our business to help protect the communities we care about. It’s also a great reminder that doing good locally doesn’t have to be complicated, it starts with finding causes that matter and showing up with consistency.

We were also pleased to hear that SARS have been growing steadily, adding more clinicians and upgrading their support systems. But as always, demand remains high and the need for support is constant.

What’s Next: Training Event Incoming

We’re not stopping at sponsorship. We’re working with SARS to arrange a free first aid training session at our offices led by the experts themselves. It’ll be a practical, informative, and confidence-boosting session open to our team, clients and wider network.

Keep an eye on our blog and social channels, we’ll share dates and how to sign up as soon as it’s confirmed.

Community Partnership, In Action

It was an absolute privilege to meet Oliver and Alan, hear their stories, and see first-hand the professionalism they bring to a role that demands so much, emotionally, physically and mentally.

Hope you enjoy the photos from the day on our LinkedIn but for now, we simply want to say: thank you to SARS, and to every clinician who gives their time to make our region safer.

We’re honoured to be part of it.
